I have attempted a few 30-day challenges in the past and the only one I have succeeded in was Whole30. Technically, I made it 26 days but even after cheating on Valentine’s Day the 26 days completely changed my eating habits. Naturally, Clay and I were all in for doing it again this January.
On top of the Whole30, I decided to add some other 30-day challenges to change my habits and continue to improve my health both mentally and physically. Why 6? Well, it’s what I came up with on New Years Day! Ha, but really being sober for a month gives you a lot of time to create new habits.
I plan to do a different 30-day challenge every month this year, maybe not 6 every month but at least 1 every month of 2019. Want to join me! Comment your 30-Day Challenge!

Whole30
As I said we did this last year and it changed our lives.
Why? You can read about why I did Whole30 here and read about some of my favorite recipes here. I have found Pinterest is a great resource for recipe inspiration – you can find some more Whole30 approved recipes on my board Allergy Free Food. -
Stretching + Butt Workout
I always see these on Pinterest and decided to try one this month. I originally planned on doing just 30 days of squats but saw a few videos where that didn’t really do much and was quite boring. So I went with this Shape challenge that incorporates a few different butt/squat moves.
Why? To move every morning! Stretching every morning makes my body feel so much better. I suffer from chronic hip, leg and foot pain and a lot of that is contributed to a weak butt and core. So this month its butt next month is core! -
Improve Posture
Another health issue – posture! My posture has been horrid since I was little and I hate when I catch myself all slumped over. I just added PostureMinder to my Chrome and every once in a while I get an alert in the upper right-hand corner to sit up straight or take a break.
Why? Since I spend like 80% of my day on the computer this is the perfect app for me. -
No Phone In Bed
One of my BFF’s told me she and her husband don’t bring their phones to bed! What?! Crazy! They keep them downstairs and used an alarm clock to wake up. I tried that for a few weeks and was pretty successful but then got back on the phone/computer in bed train. So for all of January and hopefully life… no phone or computer in bed!
Why? More time for reading and journaling. It will also reduce blue light exposure which has lots of health benefits like a better sleep. -
Journaling
When I was younger I always journaled, but it is something I totally stopped doing in college. I loved the idea of a guided journal so last spring I randomly purchased The 5 Minute A Day Journal by Intelligent Change. Each day has the same few prompts that help you set your intentions for the day, write affirmations and reflect on all you accomplished and are grateful for. Why? Journaling is good for your soul and makes you happy! I love setting my intentions in the morning and reflecting at the end of the day. I especially love the little mantra I have created for myself!

No Shopping
Yall I am a shopaholic! I have struggled with overspending my entire life and I need to lock it up!
Why? Because Clay and I will soon be sharing finances I need to focus on saving and not spending. Save for our future home, our honeymoon, and our future!
