Updated 1/19/2019 – New Recipies!
If you have been following my “Whole 30” journey it has been a little all over the place. Props to those who can do the full 30 but about halfway through I realized I wanted to make a real lifestyle change and decided to only cut out my the foods I have a food sensitivity to you. You can read more about that here. But my major foods allergens are garlic, sunflower oil, black beans, tarragon, dairy, barley, gluten and cane sugar YAY!
So when you do the Whole30 or really any type of diet it’s all about cooking and meal planning. I have cooked and learn more about food and my body in the last 30 days than I have in literally my entire life. It really has been an eye-opening experience and I am so happy I did it!
So without further ado here are some of my favorites recipes, not all of these recipes are “Whole30” and some contain ingredients I had to nix or find alternatives too but overall they were yummy!
Thrive Market
If you are on the hunt for Whole30 approved sauces and dressing, check out Thrive Market – we just put in an order for everything we need for Whole30 2019! Update 1/19/20 – Ugh some of those sauces blow haha the ketchup is okay but I would just try and steer clear of sauces and make your own dressing for whole30. We also didn’t like any whole30 approved mayo, and now we have 2 jars of it ::face-palm::Thrive Marketis still great for other things like all my Fab 4 smoothie ingredients.
On Sundays, I have been making a big batch of roasted Brussel Sprout, Apples & Bacon recipe for a yummy breakfast. In the morning I pop these in the oven 10 mins on 400° and top with 2 eggs sunny side up. SO freaking good.
One of my first meals on Whole30 was made by a friend! Zoddles with Pesto and it was soo good! While at her house I ordered this Zoodeler off Amazon. We finally pulled the trigger on a food processor last week at Costco so the first thing I wanted to make was Pesto. Super easy and goes great on really everything.
Update 10/19/2019 – We made a lot of Whole30 Spigettie with Rao’s Homemade, hat tip to the Domesitca Me blog bellow. Double check the label but almost all of them are Whole30 approved with no added sugar! There is also a sensitive marinara with no garlic! Super simple recipe – just brown the meat, then saute mushrooms and onions add it all together and simmer – the longer you simmer the better. Zoodles take a few minutes and you want to take tongs and keep them tossing while you cook – do not overcook or they will get soggy! Voial delicious Whole30 Spigettie!
A girlfriend turned me on to Serena of Domesticate Me on Instagram a few months ago so when we started this food journey I went to her site for inspiration. None of her recipes are strictly “Paleo” or “Whole 30” but I did find a few things that worked for our diet like this one-skillet dinner. Super easy and so damn good, I have made it 3x already. Surprisingly, there were tons of sugar-free tomato sauces – Rao’s Homemade is the best!
We attempted this dish last week. I didn’t know what we could make I knew we had cauliflower rice, mushrooms and coconut milk, so when you google all those ingratiates you find Cauliflower Mushroom Risotto. The cream sauce didn’t really get creamy or thick till we added some cornstarch but still a good recipe!
Another fav from Domesticate Me, we tried this during our first weekend when we both craving bread. These sweet potato planks hit the spot. Also, who doesn’t love a poached egg! Put it all together and you have a decadent meal or snack. I actually made this late night once when we were craving pizza!
I love anything peanut especially again peanut food. So these Slow Cooker Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps with almonds were my attempt at fulfilling that craving. Plus, who doesn’t love a good crockpot recipe? I really liked these but would have loved them more with peanuts. This is one recipe I will definitely make again and again.
Clay whipped up this Whole30 Chicken Ramen sans noodles from The Defined Dish and it was amazing! We will be making this all the time now that we have all the ingredients. Since we had almost everything on Hand I think made this Thai Chicken Ramen with Brown Rice Noodles from Half Baked Harvest which was equally as good.
So I haven’t made any of these recipes YET but I am literally drooling over everything on Paleo Gluten Free. The photography is phenomenal. I mean how freakin good do these look.
