As a Philosophy major at SMU you’re required to take Intro to Logic. I was so excited, till I opened my book to find a whole lot of P’s, Q’s and symbols I had never seen before. Turns out I’m a wiz at propositional logic. As a product manager, I spend a lot of time working with developers and a common theme in coding is always if P then Q. What does this have to do with my new favorite App IFTTT? Everything. In plain English “If P then Q”= “If This Then That.” Most of the apps on your phone operate on this simple logic. IFTTT takes simple formula, or as they call it a Recipe and applies it across apps. It’s pretty phenomenal. These if this than that Recipies allow the action of one app to automatically cause the action of another. Here are some of my favorite Recipes…
The best part IFTTT integrates with over 250 applications so you can create a recipe for just about anything. Oh and it’s pronounced gift without the G, never would have figured that one out on my own.
