I have a slight obsession with Amazon, as does anyone else I know with a Prime Membership actually. So when I was asked to try out Amazon Fresh I was stoked! Amazon Fresh is a grocery delivery service and for just $14.99 a month, you can get all of your groceries delivered via Amazon.
For my first delivery, I ordered lots of fruits and vegetables plus a few other household items. I checked out Fresh Deals and got a great deal on my favorite Dave’s Killer Bread. Overall, prices compared well to my local grocery store – win win!
My favorite thing about Amazon Fresh (so far) is that it also offers delivery from a number of local specialty shops in Denver. I ordered a yummy goat cheese gouda from St. Kilian’s in Highlands, Blueberry Wild Boar Sausage from Sam’s Meats in Aurora, and everything bagels from HiRise Bakery in LoDo. Having all of this delivered right before our Memorial Day Weekend road trip was a total time saver! I loved getting specialty items I would not normally purchase or even have the time to shop for before going out of town.
Amazon Fresh offers two delivery options, doorstep delivery or attended delivery. If you choose attended delivery someone will knock on your door and hand you your groceries. You can schedule deliveries in advance or even get same-day if you order in the morning.
My groceries were delivered during the quoted time frame and everything was perfectly packed. My cold items were surrounded by ice packs and stayed cold on my porch for a while. We even used the ice packs on our road trip!
My only qualm was with the user experience when ordering certain items. I had set my delivery for later that day, but when I went to add the St. Kilian’s cheese to my cart I was told I couldn’t get it delivered during that time frame. I was given the option to set up a new delivery time but then another item already in my cart couldn’t be delivered at my new time. A better user experience would have set me up with two different orders at separate delivery times. Or by graying out the “add to cart” option on items that does not fit my chosen delivery time. #UXNerdAlert
Other than that, the entire process was so convenient and easy. I totally plan on using Amazon Fresh again and again. I think it will be super convent to have groceries delivery before going on a trip or having them delivered before you return, so your not scrambling to the grocery store late Sunday night!
Right now Prime members can try out Amazon Fresh free for 30 days, after that it’s just $14.99 a month for unlimited delivery.
