New Orleans holds a special place in my heart. I went multiple times throughout college and a few times since. My last trip was an epic girls weekend to see Taylor Swift with my bestie Kristina. We both love to eat and drink so we mapped out our plan of attack and boy did we attack it. Especially, on Friday lol. I was super lucky to partner with the Royal Sonesta New Orleans for this trip – you can read all the details here.
Since I love NOLA so much I decided to create a specific where to eat and drink guide for Nola that I can update anytime I go back. Food in New Orleans is just good, like realllyyyyy good. All the seafood you can dream of! So here is a breakdown of my favorite spots – so far!
Am I missing somewhere – Slide into my DM’s so I can add it to my list for the next trip!
Willla Jean
Central Business District
Willa Jean is brunch goals. We started our trip off right by grabbing a very early brunch here. First, I had to have the pop tart pastry I saw when we walked in. So good. For drinks with both went with our favorite froze. For our main dish I went with Croque Monsieur and Kristina had the avo toast!
Bacchanal Wine
Ninth Ward
Omg, this place is a dream! Part wine & cheese shop part music venue Bacchanal Wine is seriously what all bars should be like. The unassuming building in the Ninth Ward is hiding a huge backyard party. As you enter Bacchanal Wine you find yourself in a wine and cheese shop, pick out a bottle of wine, the staff is there to help too, and then a couple of cheeses for your cheese plate. Then you hand it all over a checkout, take a number and head out back.
I did not know what to expect outside but what I found was a giant backyard with mix and match tables and chairs a funk band getting down and everyone having a good time. Your wine is uncorked on ice and your cheese board made perfectly and brought to your table. All the cheese plate fixing are home made too! Bacchanal has a full bar and full menu too! Bands start in the early afternoon and go all night long. If I lived in New Orleans I would go here every Saturday.
Avo
Magazine Street
Breakfast spaghetti? yes, please. Kristina, and I always search out a restaurant where we can find Breakfast Spigettie and this trip Avo off magazine was the winner. Food was delicious but not a very upbeat brunch atmosphere. Id like to go back and try it for dinner.
Acme Oyster House
Bourbon Street
World famous Acme Oyster House is worth the wait. Acme is casual, loud and fun. I like to stop in for an afternoon snack of oysters, hush puppies, and fried shrimp. I mean when your drinking non stop all day you gotta fuel up! Naum naum naum!
CopperVine Wine Pub
Central Business District
CopperVine had only been open a few weeks when we came in for dinner and I am sure they will quickly become a local favorite. The vibe and decor is spot on. The outdoor patio is a lush jungle, I could have spent all night on that patio! I was obsessed with the bathroom and took maybe 40 selfies.
Now on to the food. We ordered a lot and it was all soo good. Honestly, the best meal we had in New Orleans everything was delicious. We ordered the Brussel Sprouts and daily toast. For our entrees, we went for the mouthwatering short rib and Mushroom Pasta. But the Short Rib with whipped parmesan, Louisiana soybeans, veal demi stole the show.
Cafe Beignet
Bourbon Street
Cafe Du Mond is the OG Spot but for shorter lines and a full breakfast menu, I head to Cafe Beignet off Bourbon street on Royal. This cute little cafe has all the New Orleans charms with a great patio too!
Peche Seafood & Grill
Central Business District
We didn’t eat at Peche on my last trip but the few trips before I have and it’s impeccable. Everything is so damn good. The hush puppies are divine. Make a reservation here ASAP.
