Summer Reading Recommendations

Books, Lifestyle, Wellness

No joke like 4 years ago I never ever read. Clay and I started reading more together and I started to listen to a lot of books on Audible. Clay got me a kindle for Christmas and I ended up getting him one for his birthday because we both used it so much on our honeymoon.

So here are a few of the books I have read this spring/summer. If you are new to reading or love to read check out my Book Club! We started right when the pandemic hit an it's been a great way to connect with other like-minded women. We do a zoom call once a month to discuss the book and then vote on our next book. Read more about it here.

And Then You Loved Me by Inglath Cooper

And Then You Loved Me by Inglath Cooper

I downloaded this off Kindle Unlimted based on the reviews. A teenage romance between the baseball all start and like a quaker? Maybe, it didn't say but totally different backgrounds. Anyway, one terrible night leads to their end only to be re-united 20 something years later. Each chapter is told from the perspective of a different charter. And each has their own unique story about that night and where they are now. 4 out of 5 for me

In Five Years by Rebecca Serle

This book had rave reviews but I found it kinda meh an annoying to read honestly. This is my least favorite of any of them on the list - slide into my DMs if you felt the same!

Regretting You by Colleen Hoover

Oh, I could not put this down! I read this flying home from a trip in February and legit read it every second of the journey - plan, train, bus to the car, the car ride home, and then stayed up finishing it! I don't like drama but this was the perfect amount to make you uncomfortable but happy in the end!

The Overdue Life of Amy Byler by Kelly Harms

A love story about librarians - ah so cute! I really enjoyed this one a great "beach read"

No Filter: The Inside Story of Instagram by Sarah Frier

Do you use Instagram? Then you should probably read this book. Fascinating behind the scenes look at the growth of Instagram, IG's relationship with celebrities and creators, and of course the craziness of Facebook and Mark Zuckerburg. Zuckerburg is so afraid of Facebook becoming irrelevant, and therefore him and he will do whatever it takes to stay on top. Psycho.

Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World by Adam Grant

I listened to this on Kindle and while the topic was interesting, I just could not get into it. It took me well over a month to finish... so kinda recommend this one? The book discusses how we can promote originality in ourselves in our work environments, which is really interesting but maybe the audible version was just a little to dry for me.

SHOP

The Modern Gentleman by Meghan Quinn

I totally got hit with an ad for this on my screensaver and since it was Kindle Unlimited I decided to try it. I LOL'd a lot reading this book. It's 100% silly but I can totally see this being the next hit rom-com. It's like the reverse how to lose a guy in 10 days written from the male perspective of Quinn who writes a dating column for a men's website. Again super silly, very stereotypical but again I thought it was entertaining - another great "Beach Read".
