Let’s face it, houses in Denver are small, and real closet space is hard to come by. We lucked out with a pretty good size basement and lots of storage, but it was never organized. We moved in 5 years ago, and everything that didn’t fit upstairs just landed downstairs haphazardly.
Sure, sometimes, during a spring cleaning, things would get tidied up, but no real system. I had lots of categories split between places all over the house. And, of course, small houses meant small closets, and my wardrobe, shoes, bags, and accessories were scattered throughout the house. We needed help!
Which is why, when Melissa from Happy Organized reached out about organizing an area of our home, I jumped at the chance. Melissa asked that I send her some pictures and videos of the space so she could get an idea of what we were working with. We then had a call to go over what I wanted to get out of this.
What were my goals for the space, what was going to make us feel good in the space, and how could we reuse what we already have vs buy new? I loved all these questions. I could tell Melissa was a pro and really invested in making the space work for us as a family, not just tidying it up.
When we had Callie, I moved my office to the basement and my husband, Clay was stuck working at the dining table. We had an extra room downstairs, but it was filled with stuff, so our goal was to organize and create a space for him to set up an office.
As you can see from the before/after photos, everything is way more organized and has a nice little home. I also love Melissa to focus on sustainability, we only had to buy a few tubs/containers, as she repurposed so many things in ways we never thought of.
It was beyond helpful to have Melissa’s fresh eyes look at the space and find all the areas that could be improved that you are blind to – kind of like a therapist. I feel like a weight has been lifted, and my husband and I both feel energized to organize everything better. I highly recommend Happy Organized Denver and know we will be using her again in the future too! I also think this would be a great gift for new parents!
