I have legit tried on 50+ swimsuits this summer in search of the perfect sustainable swimsuit. A lot was too cheeky, some were just boring and of course, some were unflattering but I did manage to find a few that I really loved. I also listed a few brands I found that I didn’t end up loving the suits or didn’t even order from them, so you can check them out too!
Summersalt Swimwear
To be totally honest, I have a love-hate with Summersalt. I love everything about this suit except it could use a little padding as it’s kind of nippy. However, I have the same size in another Summersault one-piece and I can barely get it over my hips! I had to get the Clay to pull it off of me one time.I also tried their triangle bikinis and thought they were so so unflattering. I don’t love their prints, cuts, or color combos but also feel like there is so much potential with this brand so like I said it’s a love-hate.
Lively Swimwear
Lively is a sustainable lingerie brand that also makes sustainable swim. I first ordered the bralette, after a girlfriend raved about them and ended up loving it too. So when I started searching for a sustainable swim this was an easy choice. I didn’t think I would love the krinke swimsuit fabric but it’s so comfortable and easily my new favorite.
I also wanted to just find a simple navy string bikini and this was the winner. Unfortunately, they were out of the string bottom so I got the “Bikini Bottom” which works great too.
Mara Hoffman Swimwear
Sadly, this suit is about 4 years old and I have only found 2 left on the internet this one on eBay and on Poshmark. This Mara Hoffman “sun basket” cutout suit is hands down my favorite suit of all time. I get so so many compliments, I wish she would remake this, and I would buy three so I could have this suit forever.
Mara Hoffman has always been one of my favorite designers and has also been making suitable clothing and swim for years! I feel like she was most known for her patterns but in recent years has done less of that. Hopefully, she will get back to more amazing prints soon – either way love her pieces and link to some similar ones here
Maaji Swimwear
I saw this suit on Revolve and was stoked to see that it was sustainably made. Maaja makes some really cute suites and almost all of them are reversible too! The other side is kind of like this sporty pink, white and blue stripe. I will say that bikini bottom is by far the skimpiest one I own. Sometimes you are really feeling yourself and this suit rocks, other times not so much lol. Pictured here on our trip to Charleston earlier this summer.
Boden Swimwear
When I first started shopping for sustainable swimwear Boden was like the first brand I found. It’s a British brand that is a little bit more 30s+ in a style which well I’m 34 so that works for me – bring on the full coverage bottoms!
I got 3 suits from them for summer, this adorable seersucker bikini (I’m obsessed with seersucker), this classic black one shoulder, and a simple navy one piece too. My linen shorts are actually from Italy but I’m linking to similar ones too.
