My husband and I both grew up going to 30A and if you have been to Grayton Beach on 30a then imagine that old-growth hippy vibe and that is folly beach! Like if Seaside had never happened… everything would look like Grayton
We rented this little pink duplex for a few days and it was basic but perfect. We were literally 1 block from the Berts Market, 2 blocks from the main drag and 1 block from the beach.
Where to Eat and Drink at Folly Beach
Taco Boy – Taco boy has a 3 story location in Folly Beach that also has DJs or Live music – this place is tucked back in the trees but also bumping! We got takeout for lunch on the beach, we loved the tacos so much from our visit in Charleston.
Ritas – Ritas is the sister restaurant to Hall’s Chophouse in Charleston so you know it’s good. We went to this yummy spot for lunch and it seriously did not disappoint my tacos were oh so good!
Chico Feos – This place is a VIBE. They serve beer and this one cocktail and it’s very casual. The menu is limited but delicious and at night they got live music going all night long. We were there for a great reggae band.
Sand Dollar Social Club – This place is old-school. Obviously, it’s been the go-to bar for along a long time and the patrons are still going. Expect that smoking inside vibe and live music.

Sunset From Bowens Island
Bowens Island – If you are looking for Lowcountry boil this is it. Go for sunset – but a good bit before cause the line will belong. BTW you stand in one line for food and then go to the bar for drinks. Once you get your food you can sit anywhere on the property.
Berts Market – I wish I had gotten a picture of this place. Bert’s has literally everything you need for a weekend in folly and I’m pretty sure there is a sign that says that on the outside. Groceries, build peanuts, liquor stores, breakfast and lunch and ice cream – seriously everything you need.
