Wow, we had an incredible time at Grand Hyatt Vail. We first visited the property a few years ago, and I have always recommended the hotel since. Not only is it great for ski trips but perfect when you want to get away to be wined, dined, and pampered. This is why I was so excited to preview some of their Valentine’s Day specials! And I have a special discount code that works for a Valentine’s Day escape and the rest of ski season too!
Valentines Day Dinner at Gessler
The Valentines Day dinner at Gessner is such a treat. The menu is set which can sometimes be limiting or disappointing but not this menu. Each item on the menu is also the creation of a sous chef which really shows off the depth of the culinary talent with this team. We started with a specialty cocktail “Lovers Leap” created by Ben, the General Manager that includes Grand Hyatts own barrel-aged tequila, strawberry coconut and almond shrub, lemon and egg white, and bitters. I know that sounds like a weird combo but it was so good. I could have drunk 5 of these.
You can’t go wrong with tuna tartar but the bone marrow is really amazing. Of course, our steak was perfectly cooked, the mushrooms were delicious and the dessert – yum! Check out the full menu here.
Available Sunday, February 14th from 3-10 pm at Gessner.
Private Yurt Experience at Grand Hyatt
Grand Hyatt Vail has built out a number of new experiences to allow guests to have fun in a safe private space. The private yurt is hands down such a cool experience and a great deal. For $350 you can rent out the yurt for your partner (or up to 10 friends) for a 3-hour experience. Each rental comes with gourmet popcorn and a private champagne sabering 🍾
You also have full service from Gessner or you can pop over to the outdoor Gore Creek Kitchen food truck. We had an incredible cheese plate with some amazing cheese sourced from around the world including a super rare cheese from Croatia – see more on my stories here.
The hotel is very dog friendly so we bought our pups too! We drank champagne, munched on cheese, and played our favorite game, sequence (we brought it with us) such a fun night and cool experience. The yurt is heated but they also include throw blankets to get cozy with.
Firepits & Ice Skating
After skiing and hot tubbing, we showered up and made our way to the Firepits for cocktails and more. There are four fire pits that can be rented out for a few hours giving you and your partner privacy to relax or meet up with friends. We were tempted to ice skate but after a full day of skiing, we passed. Again you have access to a full bar – an ice bar (their new Bonfire + Ice Bar) actually and can order food from Gessner, Fireside Lounge or Gore Creek Kitchen. Check out the food truck menu here.
Fire-Pit Reservations – open Thursday – Saturday from 3 – 6 pm. $50 / 1.5 hours
Axe Throwing and Tacos
Axe throwing may have been the highlight of our trip. Set up in an upstairs ballroom are stations where you will work with an experienced thrower to learn how to axe throw. It’s not difficult but it takes a few tries to get it.
At first, I was terrible but by the end of the night, I was hitting bullseye after bullseye! Inside the ballroom is a full-service bar and lounges so you can take a break from throwing or watch the game on the projector tv. We ordered food from the food truck downstairs that was sooo good! Highly recommend the quesadillas!
P.S. Gore Creek Kitchen food truck is open for breakfast on the weekends perfect to grab a burrito before hitting the slopes!
Spa Day at Grand Hyatt Vail
I can honestly say The Spa at Grand Hyatt Vail one of the prettiest spas I have been to in Colorado. While it’s on the ground floor, the gorgeous relaxation room is light and bright with a view of Gore Creek. Read all about my first trip here.
It’s been a while since I got a facial and I had never experienced a hydro facial before, so I was super excited to try this service.
My esthetician was super knowledgeable and walked me through every step of the process. Even though I had my facemask off during the treatment I felt super safe. My esthetician wore her mask plus a face shield and there was plexiglass between us she could reach around to work. After the treatment, I was treated to chocolates, macaroons and more champagne! The pastry chef has really outdone herself with these incredible creations!
