Going Green Holiday Gift Guide… What exactly does that mean? Well, we only get on planet, and there are some super easy ways to save it by reducing your plastic waste and buying more sustainable and ethically made goods.
I think the #nostraw movement really kicked off my hyper-awareness of our plastic use, and that awareness has really tumbled from there… in the best way possible! So in that spirit, I wanted to create a gift guide of sustainable goods and products that will help you get to you and your loved ones to be better stewards of the environment. Small steps make big steps so this guide is a good place to start!
I have to give a shout-out to fellow Colorado blogger Fiber and Well who focuses on ethically made goods and clothing that has really change the way I think about clothing too – thank you!
Stasher Bags – Replace all your ziplock baggies with these. Not only are these good for your bag lunch and leftovers but for toiletries on the plane too!
Stojo – I bring my HyrdoFlask just about everywhere with me and the Stojo is a great collapsible travel cup to have on hand too. Currently, Americans toss an estimated 58 billion disposable cups annually. (Stojo) – crazy! Using your Stojo can cut down on the number of cups you toss every day.
Guppy Bag – I saw the guppy bag in an Instagram ad and was intrigued. As you may have heard the ocean is filled with tiny microplastics, and microplastics come from a lot of places including your clothing which releases them in the wash. With the Guppy Bag, these tiny microplastics are caught in this mesh bag while your clothes get cleaned.
Rothy Shoes – The super stylish and comfortable shoes made from recycled plastics. I have heard so much about these shoes and can’t believe they are made from single-use plastic! Learn more about Rothy’s sustainability here.
LastSwab – Did you know we use 1.5 billion cotton buds every day??? Those little plastic cotton-tipped objects go to the landfill and live forever. LastSwab is really that the last cotton swab you will need, just wash with soap and water and use it again and again and again. Use code BLUEMOUNTAINBEL for 10% off your order!
Parachute Wool Dryer Balls – Swap your dryer sheets for these wool dryer balls that help your laundry dry 50% faster = less energy drying!
Buffy Comforter – The Buffy Cloud Comforter was a registry option on Zola and we needed a new one so I added it, so my sister got it for us! And we are totally obsessed – turns out it’s green too! Yay us! Buffy uses eucalyptus which uses way less water than cotton and recycled polyester filling. It’s seriously the best comforter I have ever owned.
Mesh Produce Bags – So you are using reusable bags at the grocery store – yay! What about your produce bags? Stop using the plastic and start using these mesh bags instead! Easy swap.
Wild Hat – Keep Nature Wild takes a slightly different approach to saving the planet, for each product sold they will pick up one pound of trash off our beautiful trails and shared outdoor spaces across the country. Their goal is to pick up 1,000,000 pounds of trash by 2023.
Beeswrap Wax Paper – Instead of plastic wrap or plastic baggies use bees wrap wax paper to cover bowls of leftovers or wrap up lunch or cheese. This wax paper is washable so it can be used again and again.
Composting Box – Don’t send your food scraps to the dump! Compost and use them in your garden next spring. This little bin promise to keep everything airtight locking in any funky smells.
I’d love to learn more about your favorite sustainable and ethical brands and products! And stay tuned for a special giveaway in December featuring some of these products
