Colorado is sunny 300 days a year. That means almost every day you feel the pull to get outside and be awesome. but planning that awesome can be surprisingly hard. With a million places to camp and even more places to hike, swim, kayak, ski, raft, backpack and chill its hard to know what to do and how to do it. My planning typically involves hours of googling, reading old forums and blog post and tracking down maps on Forrest Services. Basically, a lot of brain damage and time spent planning that should have been spent adventuring. I want to maximize my adventure time and minimize my planning time.
All that has changed since I downloaded one amazing app, The Outbound. The Outbound for IOS takes all of the great knowledge from The Outbound Collective’s websites and puts it at your fingertips in the app. The Outbound’s goal, to make it super easy to find outdoor adventures near you.
Adventures are curated by The Outbound staff but sourced from their community of users and Explorers. Each trip report is incredibly detailed in its description, what to pack, when to go and how to find it. Each trip is also tagged with keywords that make it easy to find adventures that suit you. Looking for a great hike in the fall for photography… BOOM here are the best in this area. Move the map around to find even more. Once you have found a trip you can save it to a list. Right now I am working on a Fall Adventure list so when those aspens start turning I know exactly where to go to see them.

Some adventures I have found in the app, I have already done so I marked them as completed and added my own trip review. The trip reviews are key. We found camping near Grand Lake through the app but one user’s review lead us to the perfect camping spot. The more users in the community leaving quality reviews will make getting outside and being awesome way easier.
So how do these trip reports get created?
Anyone can submit a trip report to be reviewed by The Outbound. If approved you trip shows up in the app and online. Explorers are experts in their community at finding the coolest activities and adventures. Anyone can become an Explorers just by having 10 trip reports approved by the Outbound team. Becoming and Explorere also comes with some cool perks like gear discounts!
You can also follow friends or Explores and get notifications whenever they add a new trip or review. So download the app and friend me! If your not in Colorado it’s okay! The Outbound has over 5,000+ trips and growing in the app so you are bound to find one near you.
