A few weeks while ago I wrote a post about my favorite “Accessible cheeses” and how to make the perfect cheese plate on a budget. I only shared 3 cheese so I thought I would share a few of my other favorites. These cheese are a little harder to find but still not only found at specialty cheese shops. You can still find them in most grocery stores just ones with a larger selection or your favorite cheese shop.
Uniekaas Robusto Cheese – This cheese is fantastic. Hands down a favorite of mine. If I am in Whole Foods, I’m picking up some of this. It’s in almost all of my #channingandthecheeseplate pics too. Another great Dutch cheese called Parrano is a mix between parmesan and gouda. This Robusto version made from pasteurized Milk is aged to perfection with its nutty and buttery flavor. Update: Last time I bought this cheese it had a sticker saying it was exclusive to Whole Foods
Cypress Grove Chevere – Humboldt Fog, Truffle Tremor & Midnight Moon. You really cant go wrong with any of these creamy goodnesses.
Vermont Farmstead – Lillé Bébé might be the greatest cheese I have ever eaten in my life. Seriously, it’s insane how perfectly buttery this cheese is. I have special ordered it from their online shop.
Beehive Cheese – Barley Buzzed has an expresso and lavender rub making it interesting and yummy
Sweet Grass Dairy – My new favorite cheese from South Georgia is Green Hill by Sweet Grass. This cheese is kind of perfect. A pale pink color, this creamy cheese is divine when slightly warmed. If you can’t warm it be sure and serve it at room temperature (as you should with most cheese) but this one is best warmer.
Roth Cheese – I had actually never had Roth Cheese till I won an Instagram contest for them back in the fall. I received a huge box of cheese but the Grand Cru Reserve was a home run. Lucky for me I can typically find it at my King Soopers!
The best way to find new cheese? Hit up the short cheese box. Every cheese bar hs a box of small pieces, pieces not big enough to be on display with the rest of the wheel. These cheese are typically a fraction of the cost and perfect for a smaller cheese plate. Or a super awesome cheese plate with LOTS of cheeses. I check the box at any grocery store to see if there is something new to try. I list my favs on a note I have stored in my phone. But really, I need a cheese app!
