I live for music, cheese, pretty clothing and technology. I love my computer and often refer to it as my best friend. My phone is just an extension of that computer. A little tiny computer I can take everywhere (and drop all the time). This tiny computer keeps me connected but these 6 apps really make my love my phone and love technology. Also Google Maps but I thought that one was pretty self-explanatory. Do not use Apple Maps.
Spotify: I joined Spotify as soon as it was released in the states and hopped on the paid membership about a month later. I LOVE SPOTIFY. It’s so easy to create and share playlists, discover new music and find badass playlist. The social aspect of the app really takes it to the next level. Everyone has that friend who is listening to the next smash hit before everyone else. Spotify makes it easy to find & follow those individuals so you can stay in the know too. Favorite Playlist, Yeezy Supreme, I Like These Noises and Dope Shit Son.
Snapchat: When Snapchat first came out I didn’t get it. At all. When they added the ability to ‘post to stories’ it finally clicked. All those memes about friends who post 200 second snaps – THATS ME! I don’t care if you watch my snaps its the perfect way for me to document my life! If you wanna follow all the shows I’m going to then follow me on Snapchat by holding you Snapchat up to the snapcode above.
Pocket: I have been using pocket for years. Every TLDR article goes into my pocket. I have a 20 min commute to work on the light rail that gives me plenty of time to read what is saved to my pocket. Before a flight with no wifi I open this app tp download all the new articles so I have plenty of things to read on the plane. I also use the Mac App on my computer. Ever open a “100 best articles on _____” go ahead tab them all open and save them to your pocket for a rainy day.
Feedly: If you are in the tech world you gotta stay on stop of your stuff. I subscribe to a few weekly newsletters but Feedly is what keeps me going. I follow all my favorite tech site, business news and lifestyle bloggers on here. When I read something good I can post to my Buffer account to keep my Twitter rolling with great tweets too!
Instagram: Its basically the best social media app on the planet. While I adore snapchat I am on Instagram multiple times a day. Find new brands, follow amazing photographers and explore the world. I keep and on-going list of brands I like, places I want to go and things I want to eat, by Instagram screenshots. There should really be an app for that…
Slack: Slack is gonna change the world. Just you wait. Slack has been called the email killer but it’s really the easiest way for you to communicate with your team. Outside of work I am in a ‘Woman in Product’ channel as well as ‘Colorado Product Managers’ channel. Slack is essential for work. You can chat 1 on 1 or in a group or in a channel. For example, all our core teams and cross-functional teams have their own channel. Slack saves your chats history, makes it easy to upload and download files and featured lots of great integration with GitHug, Giphy, Google Drive and more. You can add slack bots like /reminders to remind you or a team member of an event or use silly bots like /giphy to send gifs. Anyone can build a Slack app or bot making it the most versatile and accessible chatting application to date. I would love to start a Phish Slack channel some day…
