A few months ago I was asked to join the board of Well Dunn. Well Dunn is a non-profit organization established to reward internship opportunities to those people who show themselves to be exceptional volunteers in the entertainment industry. Well Dunn was founded in memory of my very best friend Emily Dunn. The thing that always impressed me the most about Emily and what has stuck with me to this day is her ability to get shit done. If she had an idea she ran with it, if she wanted to do something, she did and not just eventually she did it right away. Emily worked behind the scenes of all the major music festivals and traveled the world doing so. Well Dunn was her company and now it is an incredible foundation that helps people like her break into the music and entertainment industry.
Bonnaroo was the first real music festival Emily ever attended and one she worked every summer until her untimely passing. So Bonnaroo is now home base for Well Dunn. I feel so blessed and honored to go to the farm and meet all the people that meant so much to her. I honestly don’t know what this experience will bring, I am sure there will be a lot of happiness and moments of sadness. I am preparing now for a lot of tears, waterproof mascara – check. Besides spreading the word about Well Dunn I will get to enjoy some of my favorite bands with a few special people I don’t get to see enough, Em’s little sister Amanda and our dear friend Monik.
The only music festivals I have been to have been pretty small or a Phish festival so I am excited to see behind the scene at Bonnaroo. If you are headed down there look for the Well Dunn tent and introduce yourself. Follow me and Well Dunn on Instagram and check back for post from “The Roo”. If you or someone you know is interested about a paid internship in the music/entertainment industry send them to WellDunn.org to learn more.
